** UPDATE 13/9/23 **
Due to a road closure on Meadows Edge (Bale Hill), there is a change to the 100km Super Challenger Route. The revised route now ascends the B6278 from Edmundbyers. There is a “turn around” point at the start of the closed road (Meadows Edge). Marshals will be located at this point. Then there is a fabulous descent back along the B6278 to Edmundbyers and on to Blanchland. The overall distance of the route remains more or less the same (102 km; 4,900 ft. (1,500 metres) ascent). The new revised route can be downloaded on to a Garmin using this link:

Following the successful launch event last year, Wylam on Wheels is back for 2023 on Sunday 17th September 2023! The event is organised by the cycling group, The Wylam Sprockets, and other local volunteers. This year four routes are available and the event is the ultimate in inclusive cycling. All routes start and finish in the village of Wylam in the beautiful Tyne Valley. This is a fundraising event for the Wylam Community Playing Field Association, a local charity which maintains the popular Jubilee Playing Field in Wylam.
4 routes are available:
1. Couch to 25 km. A road route around the Tyne Valley. Suitable for the casual cyclist and all types of bike. All on quiet roads.

The routes will be clearly signed with marshals at key points. There will be feed stations on all routes and all riders can celebrate their achievements with a delicious homemade afternoon tea at the finish line on the Jubilee Playing Field in Wylam.
Many thanks to our sponsor - The Spar - who (very generously) are covering all of the running costs for our event. This means that all of your entry fees will go directly to support Wylam Community Playing Field Association.
